Initial.
A study in restraint. Three tones — bordeaux, crème and mist — held in quiet balance. The way good design holds a room.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux red is quiet luxury. A deep, warm note that belongs to leather libraries, vintage Porsches, the door of a building you remember without knowing why. Worn close to the skin, it carries weight without ever announcing itself.
Crème
Crème is the soft counterpart. Linen, paper, the inside of an envelope, morning light through a curtain. It does not declare a season. It is the kind of off-white that finds its way into every wardrobe and stays there for years.
Mist
Between bordeaux and crème lives Mist — a soft grey melange, the color of damp pavement after rain, of a shirt washed many times, of the sky over Haarlem in March. Where bordeaux holds warmth and crème gives light, mist gives breath. It is the colour of the in-between.
Elegance, not noise
BackToBlanks is built on the belief that elegance lives in restraint. No loud prints. No statements stitched across the chest. Just garments cut clean, finished with care, and worn quietly by people who understand that the best clothes are the ones you forget you're wearing.
Born in Haarlem
The brand grew out of Haarlem — a city of brick streets, narrow canals and a kind of slow, considered taste. There's a stillness in the architecture here that found its way into the clothing. Made for the Netherlands, made to travel.

Some brands begin with a business plan. This one began with a feeling — that nearly everything in our wardrobes had become noise, and that somewhere along the way, we forgot how good a real blank could feel.
Hi. I'm Wybren. Twenty-two years old, born in Haarlem.
For the last eight years I've been working in a clothing store in this same city. Long enough to see what people reach for, what they regret, and what they keep wearing for years. Long enough to notice that nearly everything has gotten louder — bigger prints, bigger logos, faster cycles. People wear advertisements now.
Somewhere in between the rails of bold graphics and oversized branding, I kept coming back to the same realisation: the pieces that quietly hold a wardrobe together — the clean tee, the right knit, the shirt that disappears into an outfit instead of stealing it — are the ones nobody talks about. The blanks. The essentials.
BackToBlanks is my answer to that. Garments designed to be worn, not noticed at first glance. No logo across the chest. No walking advertisement. Just clothes you choose because they feel right, and keep wearing because they keep feeling right.

The work draws from Scandinavian tailoring — clean lines, restrained proportions, elegance that comes from simplicity rather than statement. Not minimalism for the trend of it; minimalism because it lasts.
No fast fashion. No season chasing. Quality you feel before you see — fabric that softens with time instead of giving out, fits considered carefully enough that they don't go in and out of fashion. Clothes built to outlast the moment they were made for.
I'm still studying at university in the meantime, and the studio fits between lectures and shop shifts. It's small, slow, and careful on purpose — the way the clothes themselves are.
